Web accesibility

W3CWAI

Concept

Not all people accessing the web in the same way. Problems with hearing, vision or mobility difficulties using the mouse and / or keyboard, connectivity difficulties, such as the use of text-only browsers, small screens, slow Internet connection, etc., suppose often an insurmountable obstacle to gaining access to information that the Internet offers.

Implementation of accessibility guidelines

In order to facilitate navigation, SAFEVIEW website has been developed following the guidelines of the Web Accessibility Initiative, known as WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative), developed by W3C.

A number of keyboard shortcuts have also been defined for the most important sections of the site to facilitate navigation for people who have problems with, or have not, pointing devices such as a mouse. With the same purpose tab order has been defined, so that using the keyboard tab key can scroll through different menu options in a logical order.

For customers using automatic screen readers, there are a number of shortcuts to different sections of each page, so that these users do not have to listen to all the navigation bar whenever they change page. Another keyboard shortcut takes you to this section of accessibility.

Independencia de los contenidos respecto al diseño

For content and its structure HTML 5 is used as markup language. For graphical presentation thereof cascading style sheets (CSS) are used. In this way presentation layer and content are separated, so that disabling stylesheets in the browser or screen reader does not affect the structure of the content. Relative sizes are also used in the arrangement of the graphical elements in typography. So the text size can be varied in the corresponding option of each browser.

Valid HTML 5

Analysis

The guidelines of the Accessibility Initiative Web establishes three levels of accessibility: A , Double A (AA) and Triple A (AAA) depending on the degree of compliance with priorities 1, 2 and 3 of these guidelines.

To analyze the accessibility of our website Web Accessibility Test (TAW) has been used. This is a tool developed by Fundación CTIC for analysis and information on the degree of accessibility of a web site.

Currently www.safeview.es meets priority 1, accesibility level A.
